what character's heaviest weight?

The character's minimum and maximum weight depend on their height.

Currently, the shortest characters can weight from 64lb to 431lb, and the tallest ones can weight from 103lb to 692lb.

I fix this by copy /gameddata in  AppData\Local\debucon

Ah, that's interesting. So the game could not access the dialogs files in the executable directory... Well good to know this can happen.

Just for curiosity's sake, are you using the ZIP or the installer? And are you running the game on Windows or are you going through some compatibility layer (Wine, Proton...)?

How to make a full screen?

Not Tetris is too small to play.

I am! The last update was in May, you can see the update history in the development log. I'll also upload the next update in a few hours, after a last round of testing.

The last screenshot is a screenshot of the Customization Tools, it's not directly in-game, but the file is in the download list.

how do i cheer my character up when she's sad?

You can either give her food she likes (this can be set up in the debug menu, "Edit character" option), or just wait a bit. If you don't feed her nasty food anymore, she should naturally cheer up in a few days.

How can I get a relationship with Jenny? Because when I see her working in the store I cant really talk to her.

You can't at the moment. Jenny is a placeholder character, she only has minimal dialogs. But she'll eventually get some attention too.

Update is going well! I'm remaking the sprites to allow for more body shapes, which is taking a lot of time, but it should be worth it. I also made one new area so far, fixed a few glitches and made some optimizations. I'm still nowhere near done, but at the pace I'm going currently I think the next update will be ready around late-September / early October.

As for the dev, doing good. Balancing work and personal projects has been getting easier now that I'm used to working from home.

that's nice! also saw the credits yesterday cuz why not, am not experienced either, but I wanna try helping with writing, maybe art but that after I see what you plan to do and get something similar to your vision, ofc only if you think I would be able to help!

You can! But it takes a bit of time. Make sure you give her gifts and invite her over to stuff her face every day, it'll eventually start to show.

Great update! 

the graphics pack is not updated with the new clothes,

and a bug after picking up the hat from the market and you try to put the game crashes.

OBS: it would be nice to have a tool where we can create our own clothes, it would basically be a "CC" of The Sims

I'm putting the graphic pack on hold for a bit, because I'm trying to completely rework the sprite system in order to implement different body types the smart way, and I'll also need to alter the clothes a little. But if people want me to post the new clothes sprites in the meantime I absolutely can.

I'll look into that bug, the hat shouldn't be available yet, probably forgot to remove a test script.

Regarding the custom clothes, I can't give a definitive answer, but custom sprites are on my "to study" list. The thing is, Game Maker is not very good at handling sprites from an external source, so I need to make sure it won't impact the performances too badly, and creating a set of custom clothes will be a lot of work for the users.  I am also thinking of a way to be able to use 2D sprites the same way you'd use 3D assets, with a colorless model on which you'd apply a texture. In theory it could work and would make for a pretty easy way to modify outfits, but that would be a very long development and I'd possibly run into the same performance issues. So that's probably going to be one of the last features I'll work on.

There's still a long way to go before I can even consider it a full fledged game, but so far I'm happy with how things are going.

as I said with the update, it's very epic, it's still a little game but you as a developer seem to care about it, so I have high hopes for it, hoping it will get better and better as time goes on, I believe in you dev :>, make this game as great as it can be

im not good at "voicing support", im terrible at talking to people, but here we are. i enjoy the game, as barebones as it is, and ill continue to support it. im completely inept when it comes to game developement so to be able to make a project like this, even with delays, i really repsect. especially as just one person or a small group. keep it up or something idk... i sound like a robot

Still working on it. I've been quite busy in the last two months so I haven't given as much time as usual to this project, but I'm still making progress. Just slower.

Make friends with her! Interact with her once a (real time) day to increase her relationship level.

Talk to her every (real time) day. After about three or four days, you'll unlock a few dialogs.

There will be! As I add more locations, I'll try to add more minigames. I also want to add a few ways to increase the daily allowance.

Since there's only one minigame, I have left the cheat option to get more money in the debug menu, so you can use that for now.

Hey! So I noticed that you were interested in getting some help with this. I'd love to help out some with assets and writing. I've been messing around with the dialog editor you made a bit, and also looking through what sprites you currently have in the asset download, and I think it'd be fairly simple for me to lend some assistance. Hi, I'm trying out the new year version on the game and I'm wondering where do I place the contents of the Graphics resource pack for it to work?

These are not an add-on, you don't have to place them anywhere. I made this package so that people could download the sprites I made and use them in their own project if they are interested.

How do you convince Emma to get you to feed her and make her get fat?

Feeding sessions with NPCs have not yet been implemented, it's one of the next things I plan to work on.

Right now I'm facing some personal issues, so the update is a bit delayed. I'll try my best to release it by the end of the month, but anyway it should not take much longer. Once I'm done with that update, I'll start working on more NPC-related interactions and events. But with my current situation, I don't know when these features will be available...

umm how many days does it take for the casher to start showing weight? i've already did like 2 or so weeks of 1000 cal already.

1000 calories a day isn't much, so it's going to take a while at this rate.

Here's how things exactly work. Every character has a calories threshold they need to reach before they start gaining weight. For NPCs, this threshold is a bit lower than for playable characters, so assuming Emma is at her minimum weight, it shouldn't be any more than 500cal.

Then, once this threshold has been reached, any calories above the threshold will contribute to weight gain.  The conversion rate is 3000cal = 1 kg.


So if you feed Emma 1000cal a day, she'll gain less than 200 grams every day, so 2.8kg in two weeks. That won't be noticeable.

Ah yes, that's what I understood, apologies. Well then that's pretty much the most you can do for now. The sprite changes every ~15kg, and in the first stages the changes are a bit subtle.

I'll implement other ways to fatten up NPCs. Once I release the next update, I'll start working on special events, where you can invite a NPC over and eventually do a stuffing  / force-feeding session. This'll make the process a bit less of a grindfest.

after customizing my character and went through the dialogue i was greeted with this screen.I have no idea what happened.

That's weird... I've never seen that happen. It looks like the game is having trouble reading some of the texture groups. I assume re-downloading the game didn't change anything?

I'll release a new version next sunday, I'll see if toying a bit with the texture groups can fix it. But not being able to reproduce this, it's not going to be very easy to fix...

Just to make sure this isn't some compatibility issue, can you check your system meets Game Maker's requirements?

every other game maker game works great on my computer and I just checked system requirements, it should run ok. My computer is low on memory, I don't think that would effect anything but its the only thing i can think of.

I just uploaded the new version. Can you try it and tell me if it works any better?

Oh and if getting in contact with you over discord or something can make fixing this problem any easier I'll be glad to get in touch.

I can already tell that this game is going to be a very good one

Right now, you earn money each real-time day (you don't need to play every day, it adds up to 10 days). You can also use a debug option to get more money. There's currently a glitch that crashes the game if you use this option on a new character though... So for now if you want to use it, save your game and reload the save first. I'll get it fixed asap.


Later on, I'll add more options to earn money, like achievements to increase the base income or minigames. The first minigame will most probably be related to the grocery store, but I'm not sure what form it'll take yet.

Click on the dark grey marker at the bottom of the inventory panel, you should see a few options to mess with.

I'm not sure about immobility. That's not part of what I have in store for the game at the moment, and there's still quite a lot of things I want to do before I can consider the game complete. So for now, no immobility in sight. But eh, that might change someday.


Regarding NPCs, however, that's one of the next big things I want to work on,  as that's what is going to give a lot of its "flavor" to the game. But it'll take a bit of time, and I'll most probably add functionalities related to NPCs bit by bit. And once I'm happy with how the NPCs and events system works, I'll work on generating NPCs based on your save files, so you can make your characters interact with each other.

it seems like you removed the debug menu that was ingame.is there a way to bring it back into the game or not?

It hasn't been removed, it's available in all rooms except the tutorial.

I tweaked a little bit the shader that was causing rendering issues to some people. If you encountered a display issue in v0.2.5 that made your character look void black, can you try the latest version and tell me if anything changed?

Is gas bloating from soda gone? I can't seem to trigger the effect.

I decreased the chances for a burp sound to play when eating or drinking something, but it might be a bit too low for carbonated drinks now... I'll increase it a bit in the next version.

I mean like there used to be an actual status effect, and I remember she had more chatter about feeling like a balloon and actually referring to the carbonation, rather than just burping.

I could be remembering the wrong game, but I'm like 90% sure this game had a balloon icon for a status effect, too.

I think you've got the wrong game then, I haven't written any gas-related lines of dialog (yet). However, I have made a status effect for water bloating and a couple lines about feeling like a water balloon. Maybe that's what you're referring to?

I have made a status effect for gas bloating, but I haven't activated it yet and it doesn't even have an icon. It's in the work and I need to finish it someday, but I'm pretty sure I never showed it in game so far.

 all the characters I create turn black, how can I solve this?

That  comes from the new shader. Does this happen every time? Can you check the version of DirectX you're using? Game Maker requires DirectX11 or higher for the shaders to work properly.

If it doesn't fix it, I'll try to make a compatibility option that doesn't use shaders. 

Is anyone experiencing the same kind of issue?

Hi, it happens the same to me, but I have DirectX 12 though. Oh and it does happens every time 

What about your graphic card drivers? Are they up to date?

I will try to tweak the shader a little in the next version to see if it helps, since it seems to be working on at least a couple colors it might be that the color selection is a bit too strict for some computers.

I have added the compatibility option to my backlog, I'm not sure if it'll be ready for the next version and I will most probably have to make some features unavailable when using this option, but it should at least make the game playable.

I was not trying to speedrun your tutorial, I am an idiot and forgot my rights and lefts. Anyway I loved the game I hope you keep adding onto it.

will there be a mechanic that will allow certain body parts to grow depending on your diet?

Most likely not ; I considered building the character using independent sprites "growing" at different rates, but coordinating those sprites together proved to be a bit too complicated. But I'll definitely work on different body shapes in the future.

Keep up the good work. Can't wait to see this further down the line.
